SAP MM : How to Create the Vendor Account Group ?

Define Account Groups and Field Selection (Vendor)

In this tutorial, you will learn how to define account groups for vendors. When you create a vendor, you must assign an account group to that vendor. Therefore, these account groups must be defined in configuration before vendor creation.

STEP 1: Following is the path to DEFINE ACCOUNT GROUPS AND FIELD SELECTION
  • IMG activity path: IMG > LOGISTICS – GENERAL => BUSINESS PARTNER => VENDORS => CONTROL => DEFINE ACCOUNT GROUPS AND FIELD SELECTION (VENDOR)
  • Transaction code: OMSG

STEP 2:  Click on execute button to create the new ACCOUNT GROUP (Following type Window will open),

STEP 3:  If you want to introduce new account groups, SAP recommended that you should copy the existing ones and only then make the necessary changes. This enables you to test the new account groups at this stage (e.g. with regard to partner determination) even if you have not yet specified the remaining data. So now to create the new Account Group, first we will select the one of the Suitable Existing SAP Group & Click on Copy As button

STEP 4:   Following type Window will open. Update the Following Data

SAP Recommendation

  •  The production system should contain only the account groups that are needed.

Prerequisites

  • For an account group, you must have specified a number range. This in turn requires the predefinition of the number range (see Define number ranges for vendors).

Standard Settings

  • The SAP R/3 System comes with typical account groups already preset.
