SAP MM : How to Maintain the company codes in Material Management ?

To create a material master record, the control record must exist for the company code for which you want to create your master record.

By doing This activity you make Company Code relevant for materials Management and to define the starting posting period this is a prerequisite for creating a Material Master

We maintain company codes in Material Management in following situations:

• When we are setting up company codes for materials management
• When we want to Allow back posting or Disallow back posting indicators

STEP 1: Following is the path For MAINTAIN THE COMPANY CODES IN MATERIAL MANAGEMENT

• IMG activity path :IMG > LOGISTICS – GENERAL  => MATERIAL MASTER  => BASIC SETTINGS => MAINTAIN THE COMPANY CODES IN MATERIAL MANAGEMENT
• Transaction code : SPRO

STEP 2: Click on execute button to MAINTAIN THE COMPANY CODES IN MATERIAL MANAGEMENT (Following type Window will open)

STEP 3:  Go to Your Company Codes & If blank then Update the Following Data as per your needs

•    Year : Fiscal Year of Current Period , Defines a settlement period which can be divided into 12-16 posting periods.  In the simplest case, the fiscal year and the calendar year will match. Otherwise, the calendar days on which individual posting periods end must be defined. This can be done at the same time for several company codes or individually for each company code.
•     Pe : Here You have to Enter the period corresponds to the current calendar month; otherwise, the calendar days on which individual periods end are defined in Customizing.
•    Abp Indicator : :  Indicator that allows posting to the previous period (backposting). In this case, the previous period is the preceding month.  If you do not want to allow posting to the previous period, you must cancel the indicator (if set). Please note, however, that the indicator is set again automatically during period closing, reallowing posting to the previous period. If you do not want the indicator to be set automatically during period closing, set the indicator Disallow backposting generally.
•     DBp Indicator : Indicator that prevents posting to the previous period from being reallowed automatically after a change of period. If this indicator is set, the indicator Allow posting to previous period is not set automatically during period closing.

STEP 4:  Hit Enter Button & Then Click on Save Button to store Configured data

NOTE:

• ·   To set up a company code, enter the current period here. Alternatively, you can do this with the period closing program
• ·   To initialize company codes during productive operation, you have to use the period closing program.
